narrated: (it isn't so simple)

[martha jones has been on the ship long enough to understand the basics of it. she's been through quite a bit. she's lived for years in chicago where she owned a hotel, was a leader to a group of lost people, and had a healing power that could bring people back from the dead. she died there, and now the afterlife is apparently some type of ship in the middle of the ocean.

she sees the ghost robots drag someone very familiar from the waters. instinct kicks in, and she rushes forward, kneeling down beside him as he coughs up the water. her hand grips to his shoulder to help steady him.]

Jack? [it takes her a moment to realize he likely won't recognize her if the suit is any indication. she hadn't realized he'd been a soldier. but he's lived an extraordinarily long life when she'd known him. both times she'd known different versions of him. she winces then apologetically before she smiles helplessly because it's always incredibly good to see him, any version of him.]

You okay? [martha knows he is. he always comes back from the dead perfectly fine, but even that has to be more tiring than he's likely to ever admit to.]
