Selfishly, in a companion piece similar to how the moon is always at the Earth's side, Mamoru is thankful she's here, too, if only because that means he can be absolutely certain of her safety. It wasn't that Usagi was incapable of protecting herself or that he didn't trust her guardians to watch over her as they were reborn to, so much as knowing she was safe gave him peace of mind like no other. Maybe it had been Queen Serenity's goal to give her daughter the opportunity to be with him properly by ensuring that he was reborn along with the senshi, but it didn't change the fact that he was the wildcard in a deck that was already complete. He shouldn't have been reborn with the rest of the Silver Millennium, yet he was.

For her.

His life belonged to her and he would gladly give it up if it meant protecting her, something he couldn't do very well from afar.

So selfishly, he was glad to have her here, even if the not-so-selfish parts of himself wanted nothing more than to send her back to where she belonged. Usagi deserved to be a normal girl, deserved to live the life that Princess Serenity had been unable to.

"Usako," he echos, enveloping her in his embrace. "You're safe."

"We both are," chimes a voice at Usagi's feet. Mamoru draws back enough to peer down at Luna, hands resting on his girlfriend's hips.
