[party post] come sail away with me

You've come through a door, and you are on a boat. Specifically, you're on a cruise ship in the middle of some giant body of water. You've come through the door behind you which is attached to nothing and may now be locked. It's relatively empty as giant as it appears to be. The only other passengers that are here appear to also have come through the door for the most part and it is not nearly enough to fill up this entire cruise ship.

Also, who knows who the hell is driving this thing since all of the employees appear to be either ghosts or holograms...

Is this your first time here or your hundredth time here? Do you want a drink or a dip in the pool? Is it day or night? Do you stumble on your room or some other situation either fun or painful within its many rooms, shops, and facilities? Do you run into someone you know or a complete stranger?

The possibilities are unlimited!

Elena really needs to stop assuming people share her timeline of events.

In this ship, she has discovered Bonnie doesn't and Caroline doesn't and Ethan most certainly doesn't. Why would Damon be any difference? Maybe the ship gets a kick out of playing musical timelines with each of them at the chairs. His confusion is genuine, and it's not as though Elena would have any telltale signs Damon is from before or after. He is an ageless vampire with the ever present smirk and those waggly motions his eyebrows do.

God, but she'd be lying if she said it wasn't good to see him.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Elena asks warily, her gaze narrowed as she studies him.

l-lol.

"Peter Parker, since when do you make such indecent proposals?" Mary Jane asks with a feigned gasp. One would think she is scandalized or offended, except she finishes off this train of thought with a wicked grin and an: "'Cause I like where this is going."

Mary Jane is always going to encourage people to figuratively let their hair down.

Once he slides his hand into her own, Mary Jane locks their fingers together and starts tugging him toward one of the changing rooms near the pools, closing the door behind her. If anyone were to pass by, they might see her jacket fly off to the side, followed by a heel, and a small thud which would be Peter's back against the door itself.

The boats about to rock a bit, folks.

"Mine doesn't have anything like that."

Or maybe it did. It probably did, somewhere out there, if the flashes she got from Max could be trusted at all. There was so much that she knew for a fact that mankind was just beginning to understand. This was probably one of those things.

She offers him a reassuring smile that's oddly as brave in execution as it is in theory. This is a girl that's been through more than she's letting on, who has experience with the weird, wacky, and downright terrifying under her belt. Liz is far too young to have been through some of the things she has, to have seen all that she's seen. She's well aware of that.

"I think I can handle a few ghosts."

"New Mexico was mostly fought over by Union and Confederate claimants to the territory during the Civil War. We weren't a state before 1912."

In her state, people think of statehood and admission to the Union before they think of the Titanic when 1912 is mentioned.

"Sorry, I'm kind of a nerd. I know more than I should."

A lot more. So much more.

Technically, yes. She has a father who, if they were actually gone for longer than a split second, would probably be looking for her, ready to pick up right where they left of - berating her about how she was using her magic and drinking until he passes out on the couch. If she tries to make friend he isolates her. If she tries to get away from him, he just has them move.

Honestly, this ship has been the most freedom she's ever had.

But all Damon gets out of her is a wordless shrug. "Not really. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who got picked up when my life was kind of boring."

It's possible, but that's only because she hasn't seen him in action yet. Once she sees Spider Man in all his glory she might reassess that statement, but for now? Consider her healthily skeptical. "I'm just saying that ever since Green Arrow started making his rounds, people seem to think that anyone can be a super hero - especially some who aren't exactly cut out for it."

Or they're a meteor freak waiting to explode, but that's neither here nor there.

She shrugs at his assessment of Oliver's outfit. It's probably true. "I don't know. He also carries a bow and arrow and likes Robin Hooding. I never said he was practical."

He can't help but grin at seeing her with the helmet. So Flack has a giant damn soft spot for children. He doubts that anyone would judge him for it.

"Maybe." He tips his head to the side as he tries to think if he heard the term "walkers" before. He's met more than a few people from different worlds, but that's not one he's come across. "What're walkers?"

He shifts a bit so that she can take his arm, rather than just holding onto his shirt sleeve and nodding, before cracking a smartass smile at her. "I've got some body armor back in my room. We can swing by there first, if you think I'll need it."

Kathryn doesn't do meltdowns or hysterics. She doesn't have the luxury of succumbing to those baser urges. Crumbling in front of her crew would worsen a situation she's worked hard to better or them all. They count on her to be this strong, immovable pillar of strength and resourcefulness — and she is, but there are times... She's only human, and isn't as Vulcan as her green-blooded confidant and oldest friend. There are times when various situations get to her, but she only allows herself to feel their weight when doors are shut tightly around her and nobody can watch their captain fall apart.

She'd do anything to ensure the well being and safety of her crew. She made a deal with the Borg in attempt to trim a few decades off their journey, for Cochrane's sake! Doing everything and anything for someone is something she understands well.

"Unfortunately, no. From what I can tell, this is some sort of middle ground for a variety of times and dimensions."

That isn't very comforting, she realizes, but Kathryn has no reason to lie to this woman and would appreciate honest answers were she in her place.

"I highly doubt this is a 'world' in the truer sense of the word. Likely some sort of pocket dimension that exists on the edge of a bunch of other ones."

She hated temporal physics. Hated it. She understood the basics just fine, but understanding it and liking it were two completely different things. Sometimes, she loathed that she had any sort of grasp of what was going on with whatever temporal shenanigans they happened to be dealing with. This was no exception.

She glances back at him awkwardly for a moment, one hand coming up to play with the ends of her hair as she tries to figure out the most delicate way to put it. There isn't really an easy way to explain that you're dead without it being as tragic as it was, but what can you do?

"Because before I got here I was drowning." In a fountain in a park, held down by a megalomaniac who wanted her son to pay for Klaus's wanting what he had no right to take. "I don't think that there would be a point to me going back."

She laughs a bit at that. "Funny, I said the same thing." Like mother like son, or something similar. "You get used to it. You stay until your door opens, and when it does you go home." Only her door doesn't open, and she wouldn't ever expect it to. In some ways, that's for the best.

Audrey nods slowly as she processes that information, one hand rubbing the back of her head for a moment. Her hand comes back with pie filling. She really needs to get changed.

"So everyone comes in through the one door, why doesn't someone just ... watch and jump through when it's open?"

"Oh my god!"

Elena covers her mouth, barely stifling a laugh as one of the holograms begins to remove his clothes right in front of her, as though he's about to throw his shirt at them. One of them may just look like Ryan Gosling, a little bit.

Maybe watching all that Notebook with Caroline finally paid off.

As an angel, Rafe needs less sleep than the average person as well, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love it. He loves his sleep. Sometimes a little bit too much. Then he thinks about everything Spider-man achieves in the span of twenty-four hours and well, it sort of puts your own productivity into perspective.

Hey, what'd you do today?

Passed out after playing a video game, man, what about you?

Just saved New York again, no big.

"Uh... maybe 'cause I'm technically from Chicago?" Rafe asks with a tiny smile. He's going to navigate this as best he can without outright lying, but Spider-man. No one understands the magnitude of this meeting, people. "Not that I'm gonna engage in a which is better scenario, 'cause no one ever wins those."

But they do have better pizza, js.

Rafe wrinkles his nose a bit and turns back to the door, his hands curling around the straps of his backpack he's still carrying. "So there's no like... time frame for it? It won't open or close after every so hours? We should pay attention just in case there is."

She blinks up at him. "Body armor?" Then a more appraising glance, sure, he's clean cut, but nothing about him screams "soldier."

"...You're a cop." She shakes her head, gingerly so as not to prompt another round of dizziness. "I can't get away from you guys, no matter where I go."

"That's very true."

She smiles, not unkindly. Just because they have no idea what's going on, or why it's happening, doesn't mean they need to be totally lost. "Have you been here long, Danny? On this ship."

His eyebrows raise a bit at that, curious at that particular assessment of him. "Do you have a cop problem?" Not that he'll mind either way, because he has personal experience with some cops being dicks, but he's curious to know why his profession garnered that reaction from her.

"Do I-- no, no, I'm not, like, a criminal or anything. I'm probably equally as much a problem to you guys as you are to me."

She squeezes his arm a little, looking up at him. "I'm a crime reporter. Los Angeles Times."

Damon lifts his eyebrows as he looks at him with a bit of a shrug of agreement. It probably would if there was anyone around to gain unwanted attention from. He tilts his head to the side slightly as he starts to walk back in the direction indicated. He may be suspicious and on his guard, but he'll play... casual, reckless. He's good at that.

"So do you usually want to drink an entire case or is that a side effect of being on a mystery ship?"

[personal profile] breakingout 2014-03-26 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
"True. If there was someone behind all this who wanted something from us, there are easier ways to do it," Jenny says. Unless the whoever is behind it all has untold power, but she still can't figure the point or what could be wanted from them. Her jaw locks a bit. "And it's not like I have all that much to take."

But she suppresses a shudder at the thought a demon could want to possess her again. It doesn't explain why a cruise ship, why she's not alone here.

Logan smirks when he sees that smile turn a bit mischievous, and he nods because that is what he thought.

He tenses a bit at what she says, because he recognizes the truth in it. "It would, and what the hell's the benefit or the point? I don't really trust whatever's behind it just wants to give us all a free cruise."
