Rafe hasn't met too many people on the ship, but he can't say that any of them had been so young. It isn't how young she looks that stops Rafe in his tracks, though that alone would do it. No, it's the blood that is covering her face. Jesus, and she's talking about being or not being bitten. Even without the guardian in him, Rafe can be someone that is protective, and from what he is able to gather, this young girl is alone. Of course, Clementine is likely far more adept at taking care of herself than Rafe is at taking care of himself, but he does not know this yet. All he knows is there is a girl with blood on her face in a ship that has brought them here for god knows what reason, and he can't just walk past her.
