[party post] come sail away with me

You've come through a door, and you are on a boat. Specifically, you're on a cruise ship in the middle of some giant body of water. You've come through the door behind you which is attached to nothing and may now be locked. It's relatively empty as giant as it appears to be. The only other passengers that are here appear to also have come through the door for the most part and it is not nearly enough to fill up this entire cruise ship.

Also, who knows who the hell is driving this thing since all of the employees appear to be either ghosts or holograms...

Is this your first time here or your hundredth time here? Do you want a drink or a dip in the pool? Is it day or night? Do you stumble on your room or some other situation either fun or painful within its many rooms, shops, and facilities? Do you run into someone you know or a complete stranger?

The possibilities are unlimited!

Well, unintentional jokes are Flack's favorite things and if the kid is laughing then she can't be too traumatized. So that's a plus, probably? Right? Anyway. He also laughs a bit himself at the last question, because no. That's not really what he meant.

"I just meant that I've done this kind of thing before - landing somewhere that isn't what I expected."

The last time was Chicago and that was ... a whole other world. "And thanks." It's a good helmet.

Clementine isn't traumatized by much beyond the people she loves dying, and given how much of that has happened years ago, she-- well, she hasn't been traumatized in awhile.

"Oh. What happened the last time?"

Maybe that'll help her figure out how to deal with this time. She smiles at him when he says thanks. "It'd be cool to have one of those." A helmet like that.

He pauses before turning and handing it off to her. While he's probably sure that sooner or later he'll need it again, there's no reason he can't let her borrow it for a little while. "Here. Knock yourself out."

But last time. Last time, was, well.

"Last time I landed in Chicago. People got brought in there all the time, falling through holes in the universe. It was actually kind of cool." Or it would have been, if half the time it wasn't monsters falling through.

Clementine's mouth drops open a bit when he hands it to her like she can't quite believe it is hers. She holds the helmet in her hand before she lifts it up and sets it over her head. It is much bigger than her head, but she feels safer in it somehow even if there aren't any walkers around. "Thanks."

It is so, so cool and so is Flack for letting her borrow this!

"That sounds really cool. Better than walkers anyway." Most things sound better than them though, and she knocks on her helmet smirking when it seems as sturdy as it does. Awesome.

He can't help but grin at seeing her with the helmet. So Flack has a giant damn soft spot for children. He doubts that anyone would judge him for it.

"Maybe." He tips his head to the side as he tries to think if he heard the term "walkers" before. He's met more than a few people from different worlds, but that's not one he's come across. "What're walkers?"

Clementine plays with the helmet a bit with a tiny smirk before she looks up at him again at the question, giving him a long sideways look if only cause she's not used to people who don't... know what that is. It's been years now.

"Well, people die or get bit and die then their corpse just starts walking around and tries to eat you. They smell gross." She wrinkles her nose. "But they're dumb."

Still somehow responsible for killing most people she knows. ...knew.

Just because they're dumb doesn't mean they're not capable of doing damage. It isn't so much about the intelligence, but the intent. A killer instinct is still a killer instinct, and for zombies - or walkers, in this case - all they know is the need to feed. They will do whatever it takes. Sometimes not having intelligence as a distraction can be helpful.

Not that it's right, but it's true.

"Oh. So kind of like zombies then." He nods. "They don't really have those where I'm from."

When she was scared of them, Lee told them that she shouldn't be, because she was smart and they were dumb. It's something she clings to, because she still gets scared sometimes. Clementine doesn't know if that ever really goes away. It's been years now, and she doesn't know how or why she keeps surviving only that she does.

She just... keeps going.

"Yeah. People call them that too sometimes," Clementine admits as she wraps a hand around her wrist while she stays there. "I barely remember what it was like... before." Before the zombies.

That's the best way too survive, to be honest. You just keep going. Even when things are crazier than you can possibly process.

He nods slowly as he considers that for a moment, before tipping his head to the side. "Do you remember ice cream?" Because there is no way a cruise ship doesn't have ice cream. Flack will take it as a personal offense if they don't.

Clementine looks up at him, and it takes her a moment. She was nine when the apocalypse happened, and now she's eleven so it's been... kinda a long time especially in a child's brain, but then-- She smiles a tiny bit. "Yeah. I loved... when there was strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. I liked to get a scoop of all three." There is definitely ice cream in one of the kitchens in this ship. Fear not!

"Well. What do you say we poke around here and see if we can track down an ice cream shop?" Because after spending a long time in a world full of zombies, she deserves an ice cream sundae.
