party post } { fool and king, ghoul and ghost

On the evening of the twenty-ninth, the ballroom on the main deck of the boat is decked out in lavish black and gold, thanks to Carol and Sophie, and the assistance of the very strong men they enlisted to help (thank you, boys). It's been a while since Carol has thrown a full out ball, and she liked the chance to stretch her event planning limbs again, even if those attending are mostly the ghost robots in their cater waiter wear.

A soft music is playing over the guests as they enter. As they pass through the threshold, there's a table with simple masks for them to choose from, in case they've forgotten their's. Once they pass through the main archway, they'll find their way to the large dance space where the ghost robot band is sitting, because live music is so much better than a recording, and they actually don't sound half-bad, all things considered. They also take requests, so feel free to tell them that song where you always wondered what it would sound like with a full orchestral backing. There's a large, expansive dance floor in the middle, and you're welcome to get out there and shake your groove thing whenever you see fit.

Tables with food line the far left wall of the room, as well as clusters of tables for the guests to sit when they so choose. There's also an open bar nestled into the far corner, for all your alcoholic needs. There are also plenty of dark corners to slip into, if you don't want anyone to see what you're doing, however the narration suggests watching those dark corners carefully. Rabbit holes lurk in pretty much every shadowed area of the ballroom and while they won't always drop you into a strange location of your choosing, there's a high chance they will. There's probably a high turnover of people arriving back in the ballroom, looking like they've gone five rounds with a bull.

Probably because they have.

The boat seem to want to promote this event as much as possible. While not everyone loves a good ball, some non-attenders may suddenly find themselves in attendance, completely dressed and no idea of how they got there. Trying to leave? Might not go so well either. For some, socializing isn't so much a choice as a punishment, but there are probably plenty of people to help you have a good time.

Or you could go on a trip to Narnia. One never really knows.

[OKAY BALL IS GO sorry I was late getting this up. Rabbit Holes are to be used at your discretion, but if you need suggestions or want me to randomize something for you, just shoot me a PM/private plurk/ping me ([plurk.com profile] iluvroadrunner6) and I will give you a scenario. Otherwise, mix, mingle and have fun with all the pretty formal wear. o7 Actionspam/prose/whatever floats your boat for this, it was easier to just write up the top part in prose.]

"Huh." Magical cruise ship means water. That part he's not so thrilled about. He's not sure about the rest, but he's just going to hope he doesn't get tossed overboard. "How long has it been since Coruscant?"

"A few years -- I went back home for a while. I didn't remember the Woods or Courscant until I ended here though." She's not sure why, that's just how it worked.

Alec pauses for a moment, weighing the pros and cons of that before shrugging. "I guess that's not so bad. If you went home, taking about being friends with a faerie princess or stuck in the middle of Star Wars, they might have thought you were a little nuts."

"Well, the faerie part maybe not as much -- I got a friend from home here who's part fae." Generally, they don't advertise that about Sookie but she also trusts Alec. And he's not a vampire so at least she doesn't have to worry about him losing control and trying to eat Sookie. That can be an issue sometimes.

It's true, Alec would not be trying to eat Sookie. That would just seem really messy and unnecessary. "Huh. I haven't really met a lot of people who actually had faerie back home." He certainly didn't. "Is she like the ones back in the wood?"

"No, she's a little different -- and only part faerie." Half? Something like that. "She's around here somewhere -- real pretty blonde, hard to miss her."

Alec nods a bit at that. "Cool. I may have to pick her brain a bit." There's a beat. "Would she mind? Or is it one of those things that you don't really talk about?"

"I don't think she'd mind, as long as you're nice about it." The problem is so many people want to eat Sookie because of what she is. Fairy blood is very powerful in her world.

"I am always nice." Most of the time. Provided the person in question hasn't screwed him over in some way. And he's a hundred and ten percent sure he does not want to eat Sookie. "I'm sure we'll be fine."

"I'm sure you will be." She doesn't really expect there to be any problems, really.

"Fairies though -- they can hear your thoughts. She usually tries to block it out but she can't always help it."

It seems only fair to warn him of that, just in case it'd be something that would bother him.

"Really?" Well, that would explain how the Kitsune knew about Max without him telling her. He always though that the members of the Wood knew more than they were saying about all of them, but he had never been sure how. "That explains a lot."

"Yeah. Though she can't here mine -- it don't work on vampires, what with the whole dead thing and all."

"It probably works great on transgenics." He knows from very embarrassing experience that they have no mental defenses whatsoever. "I should probably apologize in advance." Not that everything Alec thinks doesn't come out of his mouth to begin with, but occasionally what comes out of his mouth comes with better words.
