His mind immediately jumps to the possibility of seeing Vicki again, but after the stunt his sister tried to pull, he's unsure of whether that would be a warm welcome or not. Still, he can't but hope to see her again, the last vestiges of a blood relation who actually felt like family instead of the distant mother who wasn't even bothering to come to her own son's graduation.

"As long as it's not someone who wants to kill us," he says instead.

Joking aside, the concern is real. There's a lot of people who'd like to see them dead. (Or make them kill one another.)
