In all honesty, he's worried about Damon, worried about them falling back into the old patterns of Damon self-destructing and Stefan trying to keep everything together, but at least it's roles they know, if nothing else. He swallows, before placing a hand on Damon's shoulder, pushing him away from the scene and to somewhere else.
