[party post] come sail away with me

You've come through a door, and you are on a boat. Specifically, you're on a cruise ship in the middle of some giant body of water. You've come through the door behind you which is attached to nothing and may now be locked. It's relatively empty as giant as it appears to be. The only other passengers that are here appear to also have come through the door for the most part and it is not nearly enough to fill up this entire cruise ship.

Also, who knows who the hell is driving this thing since all of the employees appear to be either ghosts or holograms...

Is this your first time here or your hundredth time here? Do you want a drink or a dip in the pool? Is it day or night? Do you stumble on your room or some other situation either fun or painful within its many rooms, shops, and facilities? Do you run into someone you know or a complete stranger?

The possibilities are unlimited!

There's a brief moment where Logan wonders what it is like to be apart of something that he could be proud of. He knows he has been on teams before-- before Professor X if that even counts, but he isn't proud of what happened then or what he was eventually used for. He's been wandering a long damn time.

"I'm in the mood to find a drink," he says, and then releases a breath with a smirk. "Also to explore." Make sure nothing's going to pop out and try to kill them all, but there are easier ways to kill someone than throwing them on a damn boat.

Shh. Peter isn't a freak. It is just really hot that she is all tied up, and he can have his way with her like kissing her neck thoroughly as he smirks against her skin. He laughs when she wriggles like that in place, and he feels that against his arms before he deepens the kiss against her mouth. No, no, there's no need to remember, Mary Jane.

It is the best kiss. It is a kiss that makes you forget all the angry things.

He snorts lightly at the reminder. "Yeah, that's how I stick to buildings and stuff or else I'd just... go splat," Peter says. "Which would suck." Ya think, Peter Parker?

Peter grabs tight hold of her okay, and he is still leaning up against her even after he has set her gently on to the floor. Yes, he is very cute, and there is no need to be mad at him, okay?

"Sorry. You were--" Cute. He bites down on his lower lip. Also. It was hot. But. Shh, he's not a freak. He says this as he takes the red spider-man mask from her (yep, not a freak at all, peter parker) "Uh huh. This is it. I'm glad you believed me when I told you about it the first time... and didn't just think that I'd lost my mind."

Because it's super real. He is also glad he gets to show it to her.

Peter is perched up on one of the lounging chairs outside of the pool, working on something that he has in his hands with tools and the like. He got really tired of wearing spandex and just decided that the Door had decided he should be locked up on this ship for a very long time. Hopefully it doesn't drag him through without the suit on or his life will be over, because everyone in the world will know that Peter Parker is Spider-man. Secret identities are a thing for a reason, a very important reason. His leg is hanging off the side of the lounge chair, and he is wearing glasses at the moment, but he lifts his head up when he hears someone slump down against the wall over by the pool.

He swallows a bit and then slips his hand up through his hair. Peter knows it would be-- it would be nice to be able to say No, this is totally a dream, and you will wake up if you pinch yourself really hard, but that is not a thing he can say cause it isn't true. He does enough lying in his day to day life, and he is terrible at it. Practice doesn't make perfect when it comes to lying.

"It's real," Peter offers from where he is sitting, lifting his head up. His hair is sticking every which way like it does whenever he is deep in some project of his like the more focused that he becomes, the less focused his... hair is. "But it won't last forever? I mean, usually it doesn't. I've come and gone a whole bunch of times. You just can't go back until it... lets you. It being the ship. I know that sounds weird because ships shouldn't have a consciousness, but... I don't know what makes the door lock or unlock so until I figure it out, I'm just going with it's the ship's decision."

It is a very unscientific way of stating it, but he has yet to find a scientific explanation, and sometimes Peter Parker is a dork.

"I think any place might be more manageable than Mystic Falls."

And no Klaus plus an alive mother, right now Tyler isn't complaining.

Tyler has been on the ship for a while now. A couple of weeks. Sure, he could complain but a) it's not Mystic Falls and b) his mother was alive here.

All things considered, it could be worse.

Still, he gets that it can be jarring and he's trying to be a better person again and helping people where he can. So when his sharp senses pick up on someone freaking out he decides to follow it. This place likes to throw surprises at you, after all.

"Yeah, it's happening. Which sucks, but doesn't make it less real."

Okay, so as far as greetings go it isn't the best but no one said he was good at this or anything.

"Honestly, I think... anything is possible on this ship. I'm no longer gonna try to use science in this place," Peter says, and he still has to bite down on his lip to keep from spilling scientific possibilities or impossibilities in this place that is filled with magic.

There's no use for science here.

He is quiet as he shuffles back and forth on his feet, and then looks up at her with a deep frown.

Because he's seen a lot of people die before. He-- he's killed before, and it's-- There aren't really words for it, but he doesn't want to scare her so he just nods in response, reaching out a hand to rest against her arm when her voice cracks.

"I hope so. I've seen... people die before. Anyway," Peter says breathing in sharply. "So I don't know if it happens and you need someone to talk to and you end up here again..."

He's available for that stuff even if he is kinda crummy at talking.

"He-e-e-e-ey!" Peter does his best to look offended, but again, he's in the suit so that makes it a little difficult. He still somehow manages it. He can be very expressive even without his face showing. "Well, if you're looking for him, I'll keep an eye out for someone fitting that description since this door isn't going to budge. Pretentious hipster isn't really descriptive though, but maybe that's cause I came from New York City."

So he is kind of used to that look. He hears her mentioning rifts, and he has had experience with those himself.

"As long as you don't mock me, I choose to be in this suit. ...Totally not mock-worthy then, right?"

No, no, Audrey! The spandex is totally normal! Nothing to bat an eyelash at. He doesn't usually walk around the city like this. It generally prevents reactions like this from happening, swinging around the city way above the streets and all.

"...okay, the magic cruise ship just went from freaky and weird to... having a sense of humor. ...not that it is funny that you're covered in pie. Okay, sorry, it's a little funny." Ahem. He gestures with a hand at the door, taking a step back. "I am definitely going to avoid that door. I have a hard enough time keeping suits intact without worrying about pies."

Though they'd probably clean off pretty easily in comparison to blood.

"Logan," he answers, looking back her way as he moves the tables as she directs him to. Seems like as good a time as any to get some information at least. Physical labor in exchange for questions. Not that he thinks anyone knows a thing about this place. "So how long have you been here if you're organizing shindigs like this one?"
uncompliant: (look toward)

[personal profile] uncompliant 2014-03-04 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Logan approaches with caution. While there is damn near nothing that can kill him and it'd be damn near impossible to pitch him overboard (all that adamantium grafted to his skeleton makes him really fucking heavy), he knows better than to further piss off a woman who looks like she wouldn't hesitate to give him a piece of her mind. It's not like he can blame her for looking like she's about to do violence after all. He went running down the deck his first day here, looking for something or someone to sink his claws into until answers came out.

This wasn't a very effective technique at all (and no one was surprised).

"You new or is there some other reason you look like you want to throw someone overboard?"

It's a valid question.

She doesn't get up, but she does twist around enough to get a good view of the owner of that voice. Tall, dark hair— She's reminded of Max and scolds herself immediately. Why is it that her gut reaction to fear and uncertainty is still Max Evans? There was so much about him that she (that he) didn't know, yet there was something about him that was comforting, reassuring. Like being near him made everything okay, made her feel like things were going to turn out right no matter what.

It's the situation, the uncertainty. Or so she tells herself. It's making her long for days when there was something to look forward to at the end of the tunnel of a bad, impossible situation. Like stepping foot on an off-limits military base or dodging the FBI. There was always pay off, always a reason for the danger and the unexplainable.

There is no reason here. No reason she can see, anyway. Her mind retreats to Max in a futile attempt to feel safe inside this bubble of uncertainty. But Max isn't here and can't be here. It's becoming more and more apparent that this is a sticky situation she's stuck in all by her lonesome. And it has little to do with aliens.

"Most of the time indicates that some people don't. That's not very reassuring."

Secrets are important. There might've been a point in Liz's life where she undervalued the importance of secrets and judged those who kept them, but those days are long over. Even she has something to hide, a cross that she bears that nobody will ever be allowed to see. She was shot and died of the floor of her parents' café and given a new chance at life by an alien king from another planet who was destined to be with someone else. It was a secret that, in spite of the danger, was too depressing to share with anyone else. A failed love story not worth publishing.

When something isn't worth publishing, you get really good at lying about the words that could be printed but can't. Won't. You get so good at it that even you start to believe your own deceptions and the things your head tells your heart, even though your heart knows they aren't true. Funny thing about the heart, is that it doesn't always get what it wants. Very rarely in fact. It's easier to listen to the lies and guard your heart than it is to embrace the truth and watch your heart get hurt in the process.

"You're the second person to use the word usually." Liz gets up, rising to her feet. "Though the first to insist that the ship is sentient. I'd call that crazy and impossible, but so is being picked up from a desert town in the middle of New Mexico and dropped off on some ship in the middle of nowhere."

Which, she realizes in sudden, panicked hindsight, sounds more alien than it ought to be. People make alien jokes and cracks about her hometown all the time. It shouldn't be this alarming, but when you make FBI watch lists, it's not so funny anymore.

It could be worse. A lot worse. Liz could be locked in a white room with agents from the FBI's Special Unit, men and women in lab coats hoping to coax information about Max, Nasedo, and the others by whatever means necessary. The mere thought of that very real possibility makes her stomach churn more than the barely detectable motions of the boat do.

Still seated, Liz looks up at him. "Isn't there some sort of 'no place like home' clause? Can't I just click my heels and go back to where I came from?"

Plenty of people have walked past her, but he's the first person to stop and say anything to her, let alone ask her a question. Her gaze is sharp and piercing when she turns it on him, a woman well accustomed to dealing with forces bigger and badder than her that could squash her like a bug before she had time to blink. And if the Borg can't drive her to waiver, then some archaic ship in the middle of a nameless ocean didn't stand a chance.

"New, among other things. This vessel wouldn't happen to have a name, would it?"

Straight to the point, no time for pleasantries or unimportant questions. Those can come later.

Everything looks ancient to a woman from the 24th Century, not just Rebekah's gown. A prom dress from 2014 would appear just as archaic and out of place to her. Kathryn isn't muppet-faced, but she's someone with experience in bouncing around times under her belt. That recent trip to 1996 was still giving her headaches.

Time travel, a starship captain's worst nightmare.

Corners ought to make it onto that list, for the captain nearly collides with Rebekah when she rounds one, eyes glued to the readings on her tricorder instead of where she's going. Even captains make the mistake of not watching the road from time to time.

Secrets save lives. The truth can be dangerous. Most of the people who found out his secret, they ended up dead so he stopped telling people, and for a year, he kept the secret to himself close to his chest. Now his girlfriend is the only person that knows his secret. He told her the truth before he told her how he feels about her, but the truth can be heavy too. Being one of the only people who know the truth, it means being in the line of fire, knowing so much that every sign of trouble brings fear and worry. Secrets are heavy to carry even when carrying someone else's secret.

Peter leans back as she gets to her feet, and there are still tools scattered out all around him. He found this stuff in one of the other endless rooms that appear on this ship. There are 'stores' that never require any money. There are restaurants and clubs and rooms that just happen to have whatever someone is looking for at the time. It all goes into the mystery that is this place, and he's yet to solve it though he is planning on trying. Any place that grabs people against their will can't be good.

"Well, I've never heard of anyone who couldn't go back, but I don't want to say always in case one time I'm wrong and then it's like... I gave someone false hope," Peter says, and then he shrugs a tiny bit, biting at the end of the tool that he has in his mouth without... thinking. He makes a face at it when he realizes what he's doing, lifting up a hand to push his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "I haven't found a scientific explanation for any of it yet or I'd be explaining... under those terms. I really wish I knew... why this happened or how to get back when you needed to, or why this happens--"

Any of the above? It'd be really, really good to know, but answers aren't really easy to find.

Ethan smirks softly at what she says. "That sounds like a very good idea. They have good liquor. Might as well take advantage of it," he says, glancing over toward the bars.

He looks back at her, shaking his head a bit as he smiles and sinks into the chair next to hers. "Everyone has a room. It's weird, but for some reason, you'll find you have a room on the ship with a bed and everything. As for what to do? There's honestly not a limit. You'll find rooms filled with... any manner of thing. There are pools, night clubs, dance clubs. I haven't seen it all yet."

Rebekah's not really doing well with the paying attention thing either, particularly when she's focusing her senses on trying to find someone instead of what's going on around her. Needless to say, she's a little surprised when she runs into someone -- literally.

She takes a step back to create space before looking up at the other woman.

"My apologies."

She's distracted enough that she doesn't even bother lashing out at Kathryn for the run in.

"Somehow, I don't think it's that easy. I mean, it can't be, right?"

Because in Tyler's experience things are never, ever that easy. They're always more difficult than they need to be, than you could ever possibly expect. So just because you want to leave the boat -- well that doesn't mean you're going to.

Not by a longshot.

"Well -- yeah, I mean. You're Spider-man," Rafe says, as if that explains everything. It could've easily been someone in a costume but Rafe knows that it's really him, web shooters and everything, and he likely knows more about Peter Parker's life than Peter would ever want him to, but he won't be saying this. It's just hard to contain your excitement when you're meeting your childhood hero, ok.

... And remember that he is just like you, a dumb teenage boy, in many ways, too.

The thought makes him smirk, but he is quick to assure Spider-man is still, effectively, a badass. "No one will be taking your superhero cred away," Rafe assures him, and a Spidey pancake would be a very, very bad thing.

Please don't go splat, Spidey.

"Or maybe you'll be able to swing yourself up and away to a rooftop in time! Keep the hope, man. Who... were you chasing, anyway?"

"Magic can be very cool," Rafe confirms.

His sister is a witch, and so are many of the women in his family. He have seen first hand how wonderful -- and absolutely terrifying -- magic can be in their hands. He has a healthy respect for it, but he is also aware magic comes in many shapes and sizes. Rafe wants to ask her how she got hurt, who Walkers are, and where she comes from, but he thinks that first things first.

"You wanna get cleaned up a bit before we explore the ship? There's a room close to the pool on the other side that's got a bathroom. I can stay here waiting for you."

'Cause otherwise it's creepy and Rafe is no creep, okay.

There is every need to remember!

Mary Jane just can't ... really remember why there is every need to at the moment. It's a whole vicious cycle thing. She squirms in place and lets out a soft noise, helplessly melting into the kiss despite her previous commitment not to. She can't help that Peter's kisses are the best kisses she has ever been kissed with.

"If you go splat, I would bring you back to life and kill you myself, Peter," Mary Jane says.

Isn't she the most loving of girlfriends?

Her gaze narrows when he cuts himself off, as though trying to decide what it is he was going to finish that sentence with. Lips pursing, she decides to focus on the rest of his sentence. Hmph. "After everything I've seen in Chicago, it wasn't that much of a stretch," she answers with a smirk, before she lifts her head up to appraise her surroundings. It's nice, she'll give it that.

Potentially hazardous too, but nice.

Danny's eyes widen at the mention of space, and he is suddenly a little more convinced he'd still go with his impressive theory. Deciding he would ask more questions later, he gives a small shake of his head at her question.

Her questions come first and his can follow later.

"...No." Danny winces. He's not used to being helpless. "There are rifts in my world. They're wormholes that pull you in from other worlds, regardless of time and space. I'm assuming the door must've been a wormhole, but that's an assumption at best."

This is likely the most he's said in months. It's sort of tragic.

Helen, you are the cutest.

Sarah is kind of fond of you already. "That's exactly what I was wondering, on both accounts," she says, leaning lightly against the railing. She stares out at the vast stretches of water with no shore seemingly in sight. "One would think it'd lead somewhere, but in my experience, when you deal with rifts the most sensible answer is rarely the right one."

Maybe the ship will just be adrift forever. It is not a reassuring thought, however, so she does not voice this aloud.

Instead, she shakes her head with a sigh and looks back at that door.

"I tried everything I could think of and nothing would make it budge. But I'll keep trying so your mom doesn't worry, okay? We'll make sure I get you back to her," Sarah says, even without knowing -- without knowing yet who Helen means.
