[ Things you need to know before you ever, ever tag Sophie Wilder, in very particular order:
1.) She has two overprotective supernatural hunter brothers that look like they're built out of stone, one of whom you may have already seen sulking around the boat, destroying one sandbag at a time.
2.) She has an equally protective and at times ornery guardian angel.
3.) She may or may not also be in possession of anpsychotic extremely morally questionable vampire ex-boyfriend. You thought Damon Salvatore was trouble.
You have been warned.
Anyhoo, she's going to end up exploring every inch of the boat; at the very least, as much of it as she can. Sophie is in the process of opening doors, curious to see what's inside the countless rooms making up one of the hallways. Each and every room has a different theme. Are you already in this room when she stumbles on it? Or do you get swept into the room along with her? Do you want to choose what this room contains or do you want to risk Ella picking for you?
We just don't know yet. ]

he sets her down slowly on the floor again, staring down at her as his hand rests against her shoulder like he is trying to see that she is in one piece, and she is. he loves her very much, and he has missed her over the years that she was away for her own safety. it was good when she came back to live in the mansion, good to see her now even as he worries. yes, he will always worry about her and wouldn't let anything bad happen to her.
(and he'd do anything to keep bad things from happening to her. but of course, he doesn't worry about himself. he's the hollow man, the tin soldier.]
...months, I think. It's hard to keep track of time. Most people come and go fairly often. I left once, and then came back. I thought it... was a dream. [it didn't seem like it could have been real except now he's here again.]

she's also incredibly confused. ] But I just saw you and you were - [ her voice cuts off as she groans, since she realizes that matters very little when it comes to multiversal traveling. ] I'm never going to get the hang of this thing. It's way too brain-melting.
[ she can't explain how she just saw james and how james is here now instead and has been there for months. it means there's more than one james, or time works very differently wherever they may be at any moment in time, or it splits them in half, or more than halves, and -
see? brain-hurty. ]

I don't think anyone ever really gets the hang of this thing if it makes you feel better. This place is... especially different. People can come and go sometimes whenever they want. [if the door remains unlocked for them, they can step through it and head back
or hang around the ship for as long as they want. others, he's heard about being dragged back through]
The door tends to be very locked for me.

[ what for is anyone's guess, but sophie doesn't like the sound of a door that might not let you leave. what if she gets bored? #priorities ]
Do you think it's arbitrary or does the ship have a mind of its own?
[ she can't even believe she's asking that question, but after everything she's seen in the past year, rifts included, there isn't anything she wouldn't believe at this point. well, almost anything. ]

[it just wants him to have a vacation :') or whatever it is the ship wants. it's hard to tell, but it is definitely what's in control here. james shakes his head at the question.]
I think... it has a mind of its own. If you need or want something, sometimes whatever you need or want will just appear. Rooms change daily.
But what it's thinking and why we're all here? Still a mystery. [one he is determined to get to the bottom of now that she's here too.]
no subject
'Cause that's not creepy at all.
[ sophie looks sort of u n s u r e about the whole thing - and okay, maybe a little bit curious. ] Anything I need or want? Do I just have to think of it for it to pop up or something? [ because that's potentially dangerous, but maybe for the ship's sake where sophie is concerned.
she isn't thinking that james is going to be determined to solve the mystery, but really, she should know better. it's james, and there's no going too far for his family. ]

[james has not been able to decide which of those things they are.] No, it doesn't work like that. Sometimes it'll just appear when you're thinking about what you need, but sometimes it'll know and do it whether or not you think about it. Sometimes it will give you something you don't want or won't give you anything at all. [he folds his arms across his chest, shaking his head because the lack of consistency there doesn't make much sense to him.
there is a mystery to this place, and it is not something he trusts even if as far as he knows, no one has been hurt here by the ship. no one has been killed. it doesn't make him any less on edge though.]

holograms and ghosts. this is just another thing she's going to add to the long list of things she should not bat an eyelash at anymore. that may change once she actually sees them and has an inevitable sophie-like reaction, but for now - she's deciding to go with it. ]
Oh.
[ she sounds mildly disappointed. ] It seems to like keeping you on your toes. [ she wrinkles her nose, because she does not like the thought of james having been here for months by himself. ] Have you been okay? [ honesty would be appreciated here, big brother. ]
no subject
I'm okay.
[it's said quietly but sincerely.]
I've just been... [he glances around at the gym that they're in.
training.
lots and lots of training.]

the fact he doesn't have to finish that sentence says it all, even if she understands. tries to. she tries very hard. giving a small sigh, she places a hand on james' shoulder. ]
Maybe that's why it brought me here. If it hadn't, you wouldn't leave this room.
[ which, yes.
that's exactly what they're doing right now, ftr. leaving. ]

he knows she tries very hard to understand. he knows that he has let her down, that he hasn't been there for her like he should have been because he sold his soul to this tattoo on his skin that only he can see.]
Maybe.
[there's a pause as they start out the door, because he knows that is exactly what they're doing now. they're leaving the gym, away from the weapons and the training, and he looks down at her with a tiny smile.]
I'm glad you're here.

[ sophie loves her brothers dearly, and if she has to be here, then she can't think of anyone better to be stuck with than with james. and maybe now that she's here, she really can get him to leave the punching bag every once in a while.
thus why she tugs him further and further away from the training room.
they're off to do some exploring now! ]
