party post } { fool and king, ghoul and ghost

On the evening of the twenty-ninth, the ballroom on the main deck of the boat is decked out in lavish black and gold, thanks to Carol and Sophie, and the assistance of the very strong men they enlisted to help (thank you, boys). It's been a while since Carol has thrown a full out ball, and she liked the chance to stretch her event planning limbs again, even if those attending are mostly the ghost robots in their cater waiter wear.

A soft music is playing over the guests as they enter. As they pass through the threshold, there's a table with simple masks for them to choose from, in case they've forgotten their's. Once they pass through the main archway, they'll find their way to the large dance space where the ghost robot band is sitting, because live music is so much better than a recording, and they actually don't sound half-bad, all things considered. They also take requests, so feel free to tell them that song where you always wondered what it would sound like with a full orchestral backing. There's a large, expansive dance floor in the middle, and you're welcome to get out there and shake your groove thing whenever you see fit.

Tables with food line the far left wall of the room, as well as clusters of tables for the guests to sit when they so choose. There's also an open bar nestled into the far corner, for all your alcoholic needs. There are also plenty of dark corners to slip into, if you don't want anyone to see what you're doing, however the narration suggests watching those dark corners carefully. Rabbit holes lurk in pretty much every shadowed area of the ballroom and while they won't always drop you into a strange location of your choosing, there's a high chance they will. There's probably a high turnover of people arriving back in the ballroom, looking like they've gone five rounds with a bull.

Probably because they have.

The boat seem to want to promote this event as much as possible. While not everyone loves a good ball, some non-attenders may suddenly find themselves in attendance, completely dressed and no idea of how they got there. Trying to leave? Might not go so well either. For some, socializing isn't so much a choice as a punishment, but there are probably plenty of people to help you have a good time.

Or you could go on a trip to Narnia. One never really knows.

[OKAY BALL IS GO sorry I was late getting this up. Rabbit Holes are to be used at your discretion, but if you need suggestions or want me to randomize something for you, just shoot me a PM/private plurk/ping me ([plurk.com profile] iluvroadrunner6) and I will give you a scenario. Otherwise, mix, mingle and have fun with all the pretty formal wear. o7 Actionspam/prose/whatever floats your boat for this, it was easier to just write up the top part in prose.]

[john turns to him with a light smirk at that.]

Not the most productive use of my powers, but I'm not used to being able to use them out in the open so I've been... taking advantage of it. [even if it is to do really simple things like bring a drink over.]

[personal profile] zorro 2014-09-02 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ use your powers in the open??? mamoru's gaze flits back to where usagi's chatting with someone he doesn't recognize. he can't imagine either of them using their powers without the veil of glamour that renders them unrecognizable while transformed. it's vital to their missions that it stays that way. there are a handful of people who know – motoki, asanuma – but they aren't here. ]

I take it that means you don't have the luxury of using them openly where you're from.

[john nods at what he says, taking in a deep breath and a long drink from the glass in his hand. it's nonalcoholic, because seriously, he will never again have a drink unless he can ever deal with his issues when it comes to alcohol and his own inability to lower his guard at any given moment.]

No, I don't. I can use them in my home. [which is an underground subway station with a group of people like him, people he is trying to keep safe.] But if I go out in public, it's... dangerous to do so.

[personal profile] zorro 2014-09-06 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ mamoru's been walking around with a glass of punch since he got here, steering clear of all things alcoholic for another reason: he's seventeen. or a couple thousand going on seventeen? he still isn't sure how exactly that works, whether factoring in lives previously lived eons ago even counts for anything. it's nothing and everything all at the same time where certain matters are concerned, tending to complicate things more than it helps. ]

People wouldn't understand and see your power for what they are instead of what they fear them to be.

[ there's a pang of guilt that follows those words, for the people of earth once thought the same of the silver millennium — enough to lead a strike against them that lead to the moon kingdom's fall. he had been standing on the moon kingdom's side during that final battle, but he still can't help but feel a little bit responsible for his people's misconceptions. ]

[john notes the understanding in the young man's voice like he knows, like he has experience of his own.]

Exactly. The few people that do know about my species? They... created an organization, which exists to try to hunt us down, to strip us of our powers, kill us, experiment on us, or turn us into agents.

[it's an organization that john was once apart of. it's one he defected from, and now he is trying to help people like him to stay protected and safe. he's responsible for them, and he isn't going to let them down.

even though he is aware that he already has with all of his secrets and betrayals that have come to light.]

[personal profile] zorro 2014-09-08 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
You're not human.

[ it's a question in the form of a statement. mamoru doesn't want to assume, but he often does. it's his intuition, that part of his abilities that he still hasn't quite settled into telling him that something is one way or another, that something is coming, etc. keeping an open mind is sometimes difficult when you already know what's behind door #1 whether you wanted to or not. ]

It's good you're here and not there if that's the case. Nobody seems to be prejudiced against those with powers like yourself from what I've seen.

[ like mamoru himself, too, but with a secret identity comes powers that remain secret, too. ]
darkplace: we want it all tonight (we are the revolution)

[personal profile] darkplace 2014-09-08 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
No, not exactly.

[john is close to being human. some would say that he and the people like him are the next step in evolution from human, but... he isn't human. he has been told again and again that he isn't human, and he should never expect human beings to accept him.

not ever.]

Thank you. It's... very good that I'm here as opposed to there. I'm relieved to not have to worry about it for once, even if I feel like I shouldn't let my guard down.

[no matter how safe it feels here. maybe he is reckless enough at the moment to not care too much.]

[personal profile] zorro 2014-09-13 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ mamoru hmms in the back of his throat in a way that's very nearly sounds amused. he's elysion at his core, a human from a time before time had to start all over. as humas as they come, because humans don't come in his stock anymore. it makes it all the more ironic that anasuma once thought he was an alien after seeing mamoru heal his own wound with powers normal people just didn't have. ]

You shouldn't. None of us should. We can't forget that we haven't willingly gone on a cruise. We're not here because we want to be, no matter how nice it may be to be here in comparison to where we were.
darkplace: (talk about it positively)

[personal profile] darkplace 2014-09-13 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think they might want us to forget that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't think of another reason why they would hand us whatever we need, whenever we need it. It's like they want us to be complacent.

[john folds his arms across his chest with a little smirk that is nearly amused himself despite the situation, despite... everything. it is good to talk to people who agree with him where that is concerned.

this is not normal.]

[personal profile] zorro 2014-09-14 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
They likely do. Whoever they are.

[ whoever they were, he had a distinct feeling they weren't good. he hated when he had those kinds of feelings. ]
darkplace: you'll never settle any of your scores (tremble little lion man)

[personal profile] darkplace 2014-09-14 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The question is are we ever going to get the answers to whoever they are. I don't think we will until they're ready.

[for all of them to know, which is more than a little unsettling.]

[personal profile] zorro 2014-10-02 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
As of right now, we're not.

[ whoever 'they' is, he can't say. all he knows is that they aren't ready. they're far from ready. it sucks, knowing that you can't know. ]
