[rp] naked, shirtless, and katniss

When Logan falls through the door of the ship this time, he is wet and naked (though his hair is cut unlike in those gifs). It's been a few months since the last time he was here, and he doesn't appreciate being thrown back in mid-bath that he didn't even want to take in the first place.

...it's a long story. Come say hi to the naked, incredibly muscular man on the deck who is beyond tense. He is truly completely and totally naked. Unf.

James Wilder has been here for days at least. The Hunter's mark has taken over, has taken so much from him over time. He got it ten years ago. The mansion is quiet and empty, but his siblings are there and that's all he can ask for. Maybe the ship finally took pity on him, standing around on its deck, searching for something to hunt or kill only to turn up empty handed every time, because he is now in a gym in the ship. He's been here for hours.

Training with various weapons, crossbows, swords, and the like. He's shirtless and sweaty but focused. Need self defense/hunting classes? Come get trained by a really buff dude... who has a hard time being social or 'normal' or having fun so apologies for that, but he is single and... shirtless. That's a thing that can be appreciated given his... abs.

Finally, there's Katniss Everdeen who went to Chicago and then was sent back into a very au version of her own world where both Peeta and Gale are women and it is totally a thing in that world that gender doesn't matter in romance and that two girls can be chosen for the Hunger Games as well as two boys or a boy and a girl, which is what apparently happened to the Katniss that was there before her. She is currently, standing on the deck of a ship with a bow and arrow pointed outward and a confused expression on her face. She has yet to finish it yet (and has been setting the whole arena on fire due to her Rift change, this is a highly AUed version of her world on every single level really).

Nothing is okay.

Single and shirtless are two of Lois Lane's favorite things.

And while she is not lacking in the self defense department, she does appreciate the male of the species when the above descriptors are applied, and if Chicago taught her anything, it's that there is no such thing as too much practice. She had been wandering to the gym to get some running in, but when she sees James hard at work, she decides to take a slight detour and see if maybe she can get in a different kind of exercise.

"Need a partner?"

Or a spot, Lois isn't entirely picky. Watching can be just as fun as participating.

James pauses and turns at the sound of the voice.

He already knew someone else was here, because of the super hunter senses that aid him in it, but it still takes him a moment to react in words. It has nothing to do with Lois and everything to do with the invisible mark on his body that is slowly stripping away his humanity, every monster that he kills. Words come slower sometimes. He'd gotten better and then gotten worse and then gotten even worse again. Now he doesn't really know what he is anymore, but there's always this, training. James nods after a moment.

"I usually have one. My brother." Who is in the same boat as James, heading straight toward a cliff. He's holding a sword in his hand at the moment, meeting her gaze. "Do you train? With... weapons."

Not everyone lives the hunter life, but that's the one he gets stuck in his head.

Lois is a trick shot and can put most grown men on their ass because they underestimate her. She's the daughter of a general. She keeps herself in shape. While she's not expecting anything quite as hardcore as what James is probably thinking, she can still hold her own - contrary to popular belief.

"Not usually. I know how to shoot and how to use a quarterstaff, but I don't wield a sword or anything like that. I'm good with hand-to-hand."
thine: (a quiet offer)

[personal profile] thine 2014-04-27 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
James knows better than to underestimate anyone especially because they're a woman. It was Amilya, a witch, who saved his life and taught him how to turn grief into a weapon, into vengeance. It was Elena (as much as it hurts to think of her name sometimes, to think of her), who stood in front of the king of the vampires unafraid and made demands of him, using her own life as a bargaining chip. He's partnered up with hunters who were also women so he knows better after all these years than to underestimate someone for that reason alone (knows better than to underestimate anyone, people are rarely what they seem).

"I'm good with hand to hand too, but if you wanted to learn any other weapon too, I could help," he says, but for now they can practice hand to hand. He releases the sword in his hand, indicating her to move toward the center of the mat.

"I will keep that in mind." But that's for later. Right now she wants to focus on the thing she's actually good at and that is her hand-to-hand skills. She finds her place on the mat, stretching a bit as she studies him for a moment, then grins. "Want to see if I can take you?"

James looks over at her, and he smirks a tiny bit in spite of himself at the grin on her face. He steps over in front of her. "Yeah, I do," he says, and he is already getting into a defensive stance in front of her. Ready to see what she's got. He knows he has to pull back some of that super strength.

Lois is a pretty well trained fighter. Army brat and a general's daughter she learned to fight before she could walk and while she probably doesn't stand much of a chance against someone of supernatural origins, she could still hold her own pretty well. She's also used to sparring with people trained for this sort of thing, so she doesn't hold back, starting with a left hook and turning that momentum into a roundhouse to his shoulder.

James only holds back the extra supernatural strength and speed as much as he can. It will still seem a bit inhuman, the levels, the speed, the strength, the way he doesn't even wince when she gives him that powerful roundhouse to his shoulder. He is impressed already though, meeting each hit, blocking, throwing in hits of his own in her direction. The way he spars shows he takes her seriously, recognizes how good she is. There is an intensity and focus to it.

When they finish, he is sweaty and a bit breathless, and there's a soft smirk on his face. "...you're really good." She is impressively good. "I'm James."

She grins a bit at that, before straightening and extending a hand to him. "Lois. And I was just doing my best to keep up." He definitely packs a punch, no matter how good she is. "Besides, being a general's daughter has to pay off somewhere."
thine: (quiet positive)

[personal profile] thine 2014-06-04 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
James smiles softly when he sees that grin, and he reaches his hand out to take her own. He gives it a shake. "You did well," he says especially given he is a Hunter. Training is all he does. Training or hunting, there isn't anything else. "A general." It's clear by the quiet but awed tone that he is impressed by that too. "Is that how you learned to fight?"

She nods. "The other soldiers were the only ones worth knowing on base, and my dad wanted me to be able to defend myself. It worked out pretty well." And it doesn't help that Lois likes being able to take care of herself. Needing to be saved is so overrated.

"It's a smart thing for him to want you to know. Not many fathers would think about that," James says, and he knows his never did. Maybe if James had known how to fight, he could have saved them (his parents). Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference. His father had no idea about the monsters that inhabit their world. He was such a nonviolent man, encouraging peaceful approaches.

James is anything but peaceful.

"My father isn't exactly most fathers." She gives a bit of a shrug. "I think he figured that if I was going to keep going toe-to-toe with a boys club, I should be able to adequately keep up. Not that I mind. Being able to kick ass for myself is not a bad thing."

"Sounds like it, and he taught you well." It doesn't sound like James thinks that is a bad thing either. In fact, it's the exact opposite. "It's a... very good thing especially in these worlds that we live in."

Everyone comes from different worlds here. He knows not all of them are like his own, but even a world without monsters like that, it has its own dangers if humans are there. Sometimes the monsters are the ones inside of themselves after all.

"Oh yeah. Though I probably didn't appreciate it as much as I should have until I landed in Chicago."

Even with the meteor infected and other people around them, she never felt unsafe at home. They were still people in the end, and people could have their asses kicked when they needed to. (It also didn't hurt that there were people like Oliver and the Blur watching her back either.) Landing in Chicago was a rather eye opening experience.

She had a feeling the universe was going to have a few more for her before the day is done.

[personal profile] thine 2014-06-21 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
James lifts an eyebrow when she mentions Chicago and when she mentions landing in it.

He knows about a Chicago that was destroyed by rifts, and rifts are generally the term used to refer to the kind of travel that has you landing somewhere. It's what he has heard at least, and he has heard quite a bit from the people who once lived in the Wilder mansion.

"...was it a Chicago with Rifts?"

[personal profile] all_thecavalry 2014-06-21 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
She startles a bit, because she was both expecting it and not at the same time. It isn't that she didn't think people from Chicago other than her and Maxwell would be here. She just didn't think there would be people that she didn't recognize.

Not that she knew a lot of people, but close enough.

"Yeah," she says with a nod. "That would be the one."

[personal profile] thine 2014-06-22 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
James winces a bit sympathetically when she startles like that. There's really no way to warn about it, and he isn't going to bring up that that world ends in Rifts in case she is from a different Chicago with rifts.

It's not the way he'd want to inform someone of how the world that they're currently living in could go down.

"I... never lived there myself. Some people from it, they ended up in my world, and I was very close with them."

"Ahhh. Gotcha. I guess with the world ending the way it did, we shouldn't be surprised that a few of us wound up everywhere." She gives a bit of a shrug. It's not that she was trying to hide where she was from - she was just surprised when people seemed to know what she was talking about without having been there.

"Hopefully it was the good people and not the psychopaths."
thine: the tin soldier (amusement almost)

[personal profile] thine 2014-06-29 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm... sorry about the world ending. That must have been--" James shakes his head after a moment, because he doesn't know what that must have been like. It just had to have been difficult in a way he can't imagine though he's heard about it in detail from Elena before.

"It was good people." Even if he isn't close to them anymore and things got complicated, they are good people. "I try not to get close to psychopaths."

It's a quiet joke with a tiny smirk on his face.

She smirks a bit in return before nodding. "Well, good. From what I hear, psychopaths make terrible friends."

She gives a bit of a shrug at the apology though. As much as Chicago was an adventure, in and of itself, it was the more permanent loss of her own home that made the difference. She was probably going to never get back to Smallville or Metropolis or Clark or Oliver or Chloe and in some ways that's much harder than dealing with the loss of a world that wasn't hers.

"It was pretty crazy. But ... where I'm from? I can't say I haven't been to crazier."

Lois, the world was ending. As far as you know, yours hasn't done that yet.

[personal profile] thine 2014-06-30 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Strange. I heard that too," James says, and his smirk widens a bit further as he looks at her.

He sees the shrug that she gives, and he has to imagine not everyone was attached to that world in the same way especially if they came from different ones, if their real home was elsewhere. They don't get to go back to those homes either or know what happened to the people they loved who they left behind.

"...where are you from and what made it crazier than Chicago and its rifts?"

"Smallville," she says with a sigh. "Tiny little town in Kansas, somehow a bigger trouble magnet than anywhere I've ever lived - and I was an army brat. They had two meteor showers in fifteen years that nearly destroyed the town."
