[rp] naked, shirtless, and katniss

When Logan falls through the door of the ship this time, he is wet and naked (though his hair is cut unlike in those gifs). It's been a few months since the last time he was here, and he doesn't appreciate being thrown back in mid-bath that he didn't even want to take in the first place.

...it's a long story. Come say hi to the naked, incredibly muscular man on the deck who is beyond tense. He is truly completely and totally naked. Unf.

James Wilder has been here for days at least. The Hunter's mark has taken over, has taken so much from him over time. He got it ten years ago. The mansion is quiet and empty, but his siblings are there and that's all he can ask for. Maybe the ship finally took pity on him, standing around on its deck, searching for something to hunt or kill only to turn up empty handed every time, because he is now in a gym in the ship. He's been here for hours.

Training with various weapons, crossbows, swords, and the like. He's shirtless and sweaty but focused. Need self defense/hunting classes? Come get trained by a really buff dude... who has a hard time being social or 'normal' or having fun so apologies for that, but he is single and... shirtless. That's a thing that can be appreciated given his... abs.

Finally, there's Katniss Everdeen who went to Chicago and then was sent back into a very au version of her own world where both Peeta and Gale are women and it is totally a thing in that world that gender doesn't matter in romance and that two girls can be chosen for the Hunger Games as well as two boys or a boy and a girl, which is what apparently happened to the Katniss that was there before her. She is currently, standing on the deck of a ship with a bow and arrow pointed outward and a confused expression on her face. She has yet to finish it yet (and has been setting the whole arena on fire due to her Rift change, this is a highly AUed version of her world on every single level really).

Nothing is okay.

[ look, he may know what she is asking and why she is asking it, but cara is someone that can be a great performer if she needs to - or underperform, as the case may be. her expression betrays nothing as she lifts her eyebrows, waiting for him to make his choice. once he does, she picks up the staff and starts to walk in a circle.

the fact he gave a straight up answer is surprising, but not in a bad way at all.
]

You have a brother?

[ she's already getting a feel for the weight of the staff on her hands. ]

Where are you both from? [ she starts to get into stance. the ready for some ninja times kind, idk. ]

[james notices that about her. her expression betrays absolutely nothing as she lifts her eyebrows, waiting for him to make the first move. he can respect that, and it's a trait that he shares. it's not so much performance as he is a tough nut to crack. he doesn't give away much in that hollowness though at the same time he can be honest, open, straightforward.

he nods in answer to the question, moving the staff on his hands in instinct. there's no thought involved. it's muscle memory practically.]

New York City. You? [he gets into his own stance across from hers, noting hers is a good stance, an experienced one. she knows what she's doing, and he makes the first move to test how she will respond, to show that he respects and notices that she knows what she is doing.]

... New York City.

[ cue an internal squint. as soon as he makes his first move, cara effectively blocks it and wastes no time in executing hers in a similar movement. she isn't going easy on him, and it's exactly for the reason she can tell he doesn't need her to. ] Is it true there's more than one?

[ sure, there'd been talks of a promised land, one beyond the world people had imagined. but multiple worlds? universes? rifts? cara doesn't know how to wrap her head around that one yet. ]

[james lifts his eyebrows with a tiny nod, impressed by the effective blocking move that she gives. they won't go easy on each other at all, and he appreciates that. she is a good sparring partner.] It's true. There are multiple universes so if you know of a New York City, it may not be the one that I am from.

[because there are so many, and this ship seems to be pulling people in from multiple universes like the door itself is some kind of endless rift.]

How are we going to be able to tell either way?

[ it's one thing if the new yorks are wildly different enough that it would be easy enough to tell apart, but what if they're not? does it really matter here on this ship? cara doesn't know, but she can't quite shrug off that paranoia that tells her to be on guard at all times, just in case. the likelihood of his knowing about ultra or anything involving it could be slim, but cara knows what happens when you take a risk.

people get killed.

You cross reference any potential differences between one world and the next. Even then, it can be difficult to tell if the differences in universes are small ones.

[then they may never really know unless they planned to meet in new york city and actually found each other there. the chances that they are from the same universe are slim, but he understands the hesitance in believing that they're from different universes.

people have their secrets, and they have their reasons for having secrets. she looks like someone with a lot of secrets, and she clearly holds them close to her vest. wears an expression that is impossible to read like his own can be.]
