You've come through a door, and you are on a boat. Specifically, you're on a cruise ship in the middle of some giant body of water. You've come through the door behind you which is attached to nothing and may now be locked. It's relatively empty as giant as it appears to be. The only other passengers that are here appear to also have come through the door for the most part and it is not nearly enough to fill up this entire cruise ship.

Also, who knows who the hell is driving this thing since all of the employees appear to be either ghosts or holograms...

Is this your first time here or your hundredth time here? Do you want a drink or a dip in the pool? Is it day or night? Do you stumble on your room or some other situation either fun or painful within its many rooms, shops, and facilities? Do you run into someone you know or a complete stranger?

The possibilities are unlimited!

[lockwood]

"What have you been keeping yourself busy with?" He wants to know every detail, anything she can tell him. He never thought he'd want to hear about her party planning or any of that but he's eager now.

[mayoralty]

"Oh, little things here and there." She waves a hand as she starts to walk along the deck. "I throw a little mingle every once in a while for whoever's on the ship. Plus there are these rooms here and there that are always different. There are ways to keep yourself occupied."

[lockwood]

"Figures. Can't keep you away from throwing parties even here." It's said with affection. He's almost excited about the idea of being able to go to one again.

[mayoralty]

She smiles a bit at that, before shrugging. "It's one of those things I'm still really good at. And there aren't many of those things that you can do here." Besides, it's a good way to keep on top of where on the ship to avoid. "This place is a little crazy, but compared to Mystic Falls it's more ... manageable."

[lockwood]

"I think any place might be more manageable than Mystic Falls."

And no Klaus plus an alive mother, right now Tyler isn't complaining.

[mayoralty]

"Point." Mystic Falls was a great big giant cluster of crazy on the best of days, and there are still moments she regrets not staying away when Bill came back to get her, but at the same time, she has a feeling that things wouldn't have ended any other way. "But that doesn't mean this place is without it's problems. Things can ... get weird."

[lockwood]

"How weird are we talking about?" Because after living in Mystic Falls -- well just about anything can fall under the word weird, honestly.

[mayoralty]

Carol she ponders for a moment. "There's a room on Deck 2 that only serves strawberry smoothies - all day, every day. There's another door somewhere on the main deck that will play practical jokes on you if you open it."

[lockwood]

"Awesome." Haven't you missed his dry remarks, Carol? "And yet still sounds better than home." How sad is that.

[mayoralty]

She laughs a bit at that. "Funny, I said the same thing." Like mother like son, or something similar. "You get used to it. You stay until your door opens, and when it does you go home." Only her door doesn't open, and she wouldn't ever expect it to. In some ways, that's for the best.

[lockwood]

There's a hesitation before he finally asks. "Can your door even open?" He hopes not. At least here, she gets to live.

[mayoralty]

Carol pauses for a moment, before shrugging slightly. She doesn't know. She hasn't tempted fate by trying, but she doesn't know if the door can simply open at random at any time.

"I've been here a few months and it hasn't happened yet."

[lockwood]

"Good."

As far as Tyler is concerned, it never needs to happen.

"I'm glad...you have this place."

Instead of just being dead.

[mayoralty]

"Me too," she nods softly, one hand wandering to his shoulders as they walk, a gentle reminder that he's there, and this isn't some figment of her imagination after being stuck on a boat for so long. "I'm glad you're here too. I've missed you."

[lockwood]

"I've missed you too. A lot." It's hard sometimes, how much he misses her. He never missed his dad much -- which sounds terrible but is kinda true anyway. But his mom? He misses her constantly. He feels like ever since she died he's been just treading water, trying to just survive, but it's exhausting.

[mayoralty]

"Well, hopefully we'll get to have a bit of time together." It's hard to say how much or how long, but it's some time. A little more than they had. And maybe enough time to properly say goodbye.

[lockwood]

"I hope so." It's why he finds himself not minding being stuck here at all.

[mayoralty]

She nods a bit before glancing up towards the residential decks above them. She turns and starts to guide him towards the stairs. "Come on. Let's go see if we can find your room, and then we'll get something to eat. You can tell me how everyone's doing."

And he can lie to her, if it helps.

[lockwood]

"Sure. There's lots to catch you up on."

Though a lot he might lie about -- it's easier that way.

[mayoralty]

She won't complain if he does. And with that, they wander off to find Tyler's room.
