[party post] come sail away with me

You've come through a door, and you are on a boat. Specifically, you're on a cruise ship in the middle of some giant body of water. You've come through the door behind you which is attached to nothing and may now be locked. It's relatively empty as giant as it appears to be. The only other passengers that are here appear to also have come through the door for the most part and it is not nearly enough to fill up this entire cruise ship.
Also, who knows who the hell is driving this thing since all of the employees appear to be either ghosts or holograms...
Is this your first time here or your hundredth time here? Do you want a drink or a dip in the pool? Is it day or night? Do you stumble on your room or some other situation either fun or painful within its many rooms, shops, and facilities? Do you run into someone you know or a complete stranger?
The possibilities are unlimited!

"Nope. ...gotta say that is one of the first time someone's taken a wild stab in the dark at my secret identity, and you were very specific," he says, and he has no idea why this quiet, bookish guardian sort would be in... this outfit, but he'll have to assume she has a good reason for thinking so. "What kind of talk about spandex would it be? Does he have a spandex... issue? Because I'll have you know there is not much else that cuts down on wind resistance. Believe me, I checked, and going as fast as possible is a pro when being chased... or also when... chasing others. I chase others too. Mostly chase others. Bah."
He waves a hand at himself.
Why did he go with the being chased part? Instead of the much cooler, superhero-y chasing down bad guys part? He will never know.

"Well he's the kind of person who definitely shouldn't be wearing it. Not that anyone past 1985 should really be giving spandex serious consideration, but he's got this hipster look that works for him, in an pretentious kind of way."
There's a beat.
"Plus there's no ruling out that the rift might have shoved him into it - in which case I get mocking privileges."
no subject
So he is kind of used to that look. He hears her mentioning rifts, and he has had experience with those himself.
"As long as you don't mock me, I choose to be in this suit. ...Totally not mock-worthy then, right?"
no subject
Everything always depends with her. Circumstances being what they are, he could be in the spandex for any number of reasons, but when it comes to Lois Lane she mocks out of love, more than anything else.
"Why?"
no subject
There's all that, but he can also sum it up.
"To catch bad guys? Without anyone knowing who I am and threatening the people that I love."
Very important. The secret identity.
no subject
She just doesn't know this guy well enough to have that kind of faith yet.
"I've got a friend like that back home. But he's more of a fan of green leather."
no subject
...not that she would be the first to doubt him.
"Leather? Isn't that difficult to move in? Plus, you can't get it wet. Wet things happen a lot in... the vigilante business. From storms and blood and goo. There's always goo. Or a broken fire hydrant."
no subject
Or they're a meteor freak waiting to explode, but that's neither here nor there.
She shrugs at his assessment of Oliver's outfit. It's probably true. "I don't know. He also carries a bow and arrow and likes Robin Hooding. I never said he was practical."
no subject
They don't get people killed. He's not Peter Parker right now, but he is drifting dangerously into that-- into sounding like him.
He lifts his head up again. "...a bow and arrow? Well that's one way to do it. Isn't it harder to use one of those in leather? Like the sound of it."
no subject
See, the thing about Lois Lane is, vigilantes and superheroes are pretty much one and the same in her mind. They do what they have to do to protect people and none of them are perfect, but in the end they save the day. That's the part that matters.
That being said, who is she to classify someone for them?
"Fine. Vigilante then. How's that working out for you?"
no subject
At least when he is in the suit, but that may be mostly because he is dealing with bad guys like all the time. They generally aren't impressive (and when they are? it's important to not let them know that you think that), but Peter's good with the bravado.
Sometimes it feels like he's slipping into someone else when he puts on the suit, but that's not completely accurate either.
There's a pause at the question. Pauses aren't totally normal for him in the Suit but the answer to that question for Peter Parker is complicated. "Great. Rounding up baddies seven days a week. I don't have a bow, but I do have web shooters. It goes with the whole spider theme."
no subject
"Yeah, I caught on to that," Lois smirks, amused. Of all the themes to work with, "spider" isn't one she would have gone with. Then again, given her attempt at superherodom was called "Stiletto" she really isn't one to talk. "Why did you go with ... spiders, exactly?"
no subject
"Because I'm part spider." Does he sound like he's joking? Probably because he is. "Spiders and I go way back. It's a whole big spidey party. ...also, I can crawl on walls."
and the whole getting bit by a spider thing, but he hasn't really talked in depth about the whole origin of the powers story at all.
